Minister's Message March 2025
As we step into the season of Lent, we are reminded that this is a time for reflection, renewal, and drawing closer to God. Many of us will have enjoyed pancakes on Shrove Tuesday, a tradition that marks the beginning of this journey. While the excitement of flipping pancakes and adding generous helpings of lemon and sugar is fun, it also carries with it the deeper reminder that Lent is a time of preparation—a time to pause, reassess, and realign our hearts with God’s love and purpose. Lent is often associated with ‘giving something up,’ but it is equally an opportunity to take something up—to embrace practices that nourish our faith, strengthen our community, and encourage us to live out God’s love in tangible ways. Whether it is through prayer, acts of kindness, or simply making space to listen more deeply, Lent invites us into a season of growth. On a personal note, I am delighted to share some wonderful news: I have successfully completed my Master’s degree in Music and will be graduating at the Barbican in London on 29th March. This journey of study and learning has been a rich and rewarding experience, and I am deeply grateful for all the support and encouragement I have received along the way. Speaking of celebrations, I am pleased to announce that the new kitchen in the manse is now complete! It has been quite a journey, with three weeks of makeshift solutions, often without heating, but we have come through it with plenty of good humour. I would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the circuit and to everyone who helped us along the way. To mark this milestone, we will be hosting a Grand Kitchen Opening and Blessing on Sunday 16th March, from 2–5pm as a drop-in event. Everyone is welcome to come along, see the new kitchen, and share in a time of fellowship and thanksgiving. Finally, a special request for prayer as we look forward to our Church Weekend Away on 21st— 23rd March. Please pray for all those attending, that it will be a time of renewal, connection, and deepening faith. May it be a meaningful and uplifting experience for everyone involved. If you could spare any extra prayers for me during March it would be much appreciated. It’s a very full month with lots of exciting things happening and a lot of Connexional meetings taking place for me with TMCP and the Heritage committee. If I look a bit fraught and things don’t quite get done, I’m juggling a lot of commitments in March—thank you for your patience. As we walk through this season of Lent together, may we each find moments of stillness (especially for me!), insight, and grace. May it be a time where we draw closer to God and one another, and may we enter Easter with renewed hearts, ready to embrace the hope and joy that resurrection brings.
